Keishia Thorpe Day is celebrated on December 14 as a Proclamation by Former County Executive Angela Alsobrooks (now U.S. Senator) for Keishia Thorpe’s leadership and contribution to public education. Ms. Thorpe is a PGCPS educator who is who is a National Teacher Hall of Fame Inductee, LifeChanger of the Year, Presidential Lifetime Achievement Honoree, and Global Teacher Prize Winner. Her Legacy scholarship is awarded annually to 3 to 5 PGCPS high school senior students who are from low-to-moderate income background and or demonstrate a high need for financial support to pursue higher education. Funds go directly to students' college accounts. Apply now for 2025-2026.
